Here follows a packlist for winter season camping. This is not
a complete list; some pursuits may require more or different gear
than listed here. Beware, some items like backpacks and water bottles
are not explicitly listed. I strongly recommend you get someone with
experience to take you snowcamping if you are new to the activity.
If you haven't read the
motivation or philosophy behind
this list, well I haven't finished writing them. I promise they
will be entertaining and useful, so come back soon and read them!
If things go wrong, the following items are handy.
Some means of walking on snow is usually necessary. I favor skis but like to take snowshoes too. Ski or trekking poles are handy no matter what you choose. Do not use insulated ski boots unless you can remove the insulation to dry it. I also favor sleds for transporting gear. This lets me wear my camelback under my coats.
